Francesca (Fran) York was born in New York and grew up in LaGrange, Georgia where she was a member of Leete Hill United Methodist Church. Fran was taught the importance of being active in the church at an early age and consequently was involved in the youth ministry, sang in the choir and taught children’s church. After high school she moved to Nashville and received a Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University. While in Tennessee she became a member of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church and rededicated her life to Christ. Fran lived in Nashville for several years after graduation then moved to Houston and attended Texas Chiropractic College where she earned her Doctoral degree. She also joined Tabernacle of Praise under the leadership of Pastor John S. Pyles Sr. and First Lady Cheryl Pyles. While at Tabernacle of Praise she was a member of the Greeters and Announcement ministries. She was also over the Personal and Professional Development and Membership ministries. Fran received her Christian Counseling Certification from International Christian Institute and is currently working on her MBA at the University of Houston.
Fran is active in the community and has worked with various organizations to create Job Fairs and GED classes for underserved neighborhoods. She is involved with various non-profit organizations such as Communities in Schools, United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is a former board member of the Pasadena Habitat for Humanity and supports March of Dimes and UNCF. She recently participated in the MS150, a 150 mile bike ride from Houston to Austin that raised money for Multiple Sclerosis.
Fran is a partner in Ministry with her husband, Pastor Michael W. York. As the First Lady of Pillar of Glory, she serves in many capacities such as leading the Membership ministry, Church Business Administrator and Creative Director of Michael York Ministries. Fran is passionate about education and our youth. She consistently works to create events and forums that will empower young people and expose them to resources that will facilitate success. Fran is excited about what God is doing for Pillar of Glory and the people of God and believes “the best is yet to come!”
